Post EVP: Microphone Theory: Pressure or EMF?

Within an EVP experiment has anyone ever considered how 'entities' are being picked up?

In one of my late night ceiling-staring sessions, my mind went on a tangent to trying to figure out the mechanics of EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomenon) and I did so by looking at how signals are received by a recording device, typically the microphone. For those who don't know a modern microphone contains three major components; a diaphragm, a coil and a magnet. Sound is produced via oscillation, a vibration which causes pressure waves, these pressure waves in turn cause the diaphragm of the microphone to move. Attached to the diaphragm is a small coil of wire (an inductor) which moves with the diaphragm over a stationary magnet, which induces a small charge onto the coil which is in turn amplified by the recording device and stored to the tape / memory card (I'm not going to discuss this process yet, just the microphone for now!).

Now the human ear works in a similar way, a diaphragm moves small bones in our ear which in turn allow us to hear. So whats the difference between a microphone and the ear? Well the microphone contains a coil (inductor) and inductors induce voltage electromagnetically, so any kind of electromagnetic or magnetic field could be detected, where as our ears only work with sound pressure waves.

Personally I know there are many other factors going on, which could cause EVP, which I will post about in the future. But idea behind my conclusion was 'is it sound pressure or magnetic fields at work' and I have designed a two simple experiments for testing it. The first experiment involves using three identical but separate recording devices. One equipped with just an inductor, the other with a laser-microphone (a device which uses a mirror as a diaphragm, modulated light reflected off it is received by a photo-transistor and cannot directly be effected by ) and lastly a standard microphone equipped to the last device as a control.

The second experiment is similar the the above but instead of a laser-microphone, a standard microphone is placed inside a Faraday cage (an earthed cage which prevents electromagnetic fields from penetrating it) thus removing the EMF variable.

As I said I plan to further explain and discuss other aspects of the technical side of EVP and the more in-depth variables later on, but I would like hear your input and idea's on this.

good experiment Al, i look forward to your conclusions,

now this is only my opinion, as a medium i can hear spirits sometimes, i think its all about frequency, if you tune into the right one you can hear, feel and see certain spirits, this could be the reason why not everyone see's or hears the same thing even if they are together at the time,

my friend can hear them all the time, but only in one ear, she can see them too, i have seen the same spirit as her twice, it had never happened to her before, so she was quite surprised i could see said spirits.

however i do feel temperature drops instantly, and a tingling feeling when spirits get close to me, i think i can atune to different frequenceys and manipulate energy due to the energies i use in my whichcraft practices, well it certainly helps if i need protection or a spirit needs more energy to communicate, it does seem to work, maybe one day we can meet and try it out xx
