Camera hacks
« on: April 16, 2009, 02:38:46 PM »

I have been messing about today with some of my old digital camera's, when I had this little invention(s). The first wonder I cooked up is a result of messing around with some old security kit and the remote trigger feature of my camera; in short it is just a PIR (passive infrared) alarm sensor connected directly to the camera. It works like the motion tigger of almost most modern camera's with one little twist, its also heat sensitive.

The second monstrosity, I proceeded to knock up a small EMF meter (K2 style led) to my camera. The inital results where not brilliant as the camera flash mechanism kept setting of the meter, but after a rethink, a longer wire and an optocoupler I can set the camera up to watch the meter, and when something triggers it the camera takes a picture.

Not brilliant gadgets, but probably useful to the investigator-on-a-budget. I'll put some pictures and schematics up in abit.

Just an afterthought; I will have to try some other sensors such as pressure mats, thermometers and laser trip wires.

Got any idea's for sensors? Let me know.
Built your own camera rig? Let me know.

Just to let you guys know I am nearly done with some schematics & pictures, and that I have added a sound activated circuit too, I will make them available to download in PDF and post the link when all is ready. Does anyone have any other idea's for sensors?
