Your Fake Ghost Pictures
« on: June 11, 2009, 06:33:45 PM »

Hi guys,
A while ago, I was playing with my digital camera and I decided to try my hand at
making my very own fake ghost pic (see attached).
So in the spirit (no pun intended) of fun, how about you guys post your own fake ghost
picture here on the Ghost Science forums.

We have no prizes to give away, but you could win the chance to have your fake ghost
picture discussed in an upcomming Ghost Science article all about.... you guess, fake ghost
pictures!

Get snapping!

The photo of the house was one that someone took and posted on a photographic forum that i belong to. He put it through Photoshop to make it look spooky. I had a pic of a Victorian child and used photoshop to cut him out, place him and reduce the opacity of the child. I also got rid of his feet to make it look like he was standing in long grass.

Good eh!

Most stuff you see is fake.....to catch a ghost on film or to see a photo..is mostly an illusion or made up....the best way to see if its fake or not....IS TO SEE FOR YOURSELF....Never trust anything you see from a cam or a photo.....with the tech these days you can almost say something is not right....Trust your own eye's.... 8)

You guys have just made the point that anything in the paranormal can be faked and this brings about the skeptics in full force. It is like the over flooding of orbs for example. Now, the cry is, don't show orbs, for they are nothing more than raindrops, snowflakes, flying insects, camera flares, blah, blah, blah. And if you do happen to capture something like what has been shown, "fake, photoshop creation" and try to reverse that statement. It is like, "the jury shall disregard"
how can you disregard what you have all ready heard or saw?
We will be all out of a job!

The point of this exercise is not so much to discredit, but to improve ones debunking technqiues as sadly there are people out there who do intentionally make fake photographs. All manipulated images have tell-tales no matter how good they are. The second stage of this project was too introduce photographs where the investigators are not aware of the authentisty, so that they can be compared, before leading into how to tell an edited photograph from an untampered one.

Just to put my tuppence in..... Seth has got it right about the point of this exercise.

It was never intended to discredit any other groups suspected ghost pictures.

Just to pick up on your point about skeptics: Personally, I believe that having skeptics in you team or just looking at your evidence is a good thing. A skeptic, in the true sense of the word, is someone who is truly open minded. It's not about debunking or closed minded negativity in the slightest.

To explain this a little better, take a look at my article here, entitled 'The Misconceptions Of Skepticism':

All the best,
Neal
