He took a quick look at the pic and said that on first impressions, he could not figure out why I had captured a strange floating light source and decided that he needed more time to study the image properly.

So, for your viewing delight, I have decided to post it here and let you all have a look and to cast your own opinions and thoughts upon it . As usual, I’m not particularly precious about this image, so feel free to speak your mind and let us know what you think in the comments section below.

On the 6th of April this year, the Ghost Science team embarked on our first ghost investigation for
quite some time. During the investigation, nothing much appeared to be happening, most of us, it’s
fair to say, were feeling a little disappointed. That was until a few days later when I was going through
the many hours of audio recordings that we had made during our evening at Wainwright’s Hairdressers.

When I first heard this section of the audio recording, I was in the kitchen washing the dishes, (I know,
it’s a slightly strange way of listening out for possible EVP recordings, but it seems to work for me) when
I heard this sound that immediately jumped out at me.

So, for a little fun, I thought I would post two versions of the audio, that may possibly be a genuine
EVP clip, for you all to take a listen and reply with your own thought.

Are these real EVP clips?

The first clip (click the left image to download) is the raw and unedited version that I have copied directly from the source file and made into a two second clip in order to be posted here.

The second clip (click the right image to download) was edited by Allan, the other Co-Founder of our little group, who assures me that no trickery has gone on, he simply quieted down the background noise to make it slightly easier for you all to hear.

So have a listen and let us know what you think the ghost voice is saying, if anything at all that is, and let us know your thoughts and what you think is being said in the comments area below. If you think it is nothing, say so. We promise to to get up-tight or offended.

Thanks for stopping by and we look forward to reading your comments.

Over the Christmas period we got talking about the future of our website and the direction that we would like to take it. As a result we have started to design and build a totally new, fresh website where the focus will be on:

Our own ghost research, including experiments
and ghost hunting equipment.

Articles on ghosts and other aspects of the paranormal.

The Ghost Science community forums.

Parazine, our own online paranormal magazine

Although we have our own ideas, we still want to hear from you, our viewers with your own opinions and ideas. We are looking for your thoughts on:

Colours. Would you prefer a more traditional
black & white or a splash of colour, if so what?

New features. What ghost and other paranormal related sections
would you like to see on our site?

Articles & News. What type of articles & news would you like to see more of?

Ghost videos – would you like to see them on our site, if so what sort?

You get the idea, but if you think of anything else that you would like to see here, please feel
free to let us know. You can email us from our contact us page or by leaving a comment in
the form below this post.

Thanks for your time and we look forward to reading your messages.

The Tower Of London

London is one of the world’s most fascinating, vibrant and historical cities. England’s capital has been home to settlements for 2000 years and layers upon layers of dark, fascinating history await discovery in the city’s ancient streets and building.

Ghost tours are very popular with visitors to London and it’s little wonder given some of the famous murders and deaths that have taken place over the centuries – whether it’s the haunted Tower of London, with reports of clunking chains and deathly shrieks, the former patch of the infamous Jack The Ripper, or The Thames, which has given up thousands of bodies over the centuries, plunged into its murky depths.

A ghost tour of London may take nerves of steel! Why not try the Ghost Bus Tours for a sweeping view of some of the city’s most notorious sites?

Ghost Bus Tours

The Necropolis Bus Company may now run tourist tours today, but in the nineteenth century, it was a private bus for funeral services – known as a ‘carcass coach’ – to convey bodies to the graveyard.

A tragic fire in 1967 destroyed the fleet of forty buses, with only one remaining – now the midnight-black Necrobus for sightseeing.

The tour takes in many spots, including the Royal Execution ground of Whitehall, the haunted theatres of The Strand, Fleet Street – the home of the demon barber – and the Old Bailey. See too the Southwark Graveyard and London Bridge, where heads of criminals were once left on spikes as warnings to others…

Jack The Ripper

London Discovery Tours run very popular Jack The Ripper tours, where you retrace the killer’s evil steps through the dark cobbled streets, listening to the gruesome history narrated by your guide of one of the most notorious unsolved crimes in history.

Another very popular walk is the Blood & Tears Walk, which leaves from Barbican Station and is hosted by actor Declan McHugh. The walk runs several times each week and delves into London’s grisly and murky past, covering sites linked to serial killers, grave robbers, witchcraft, conspiracy and prostitution.

Based on years of in-depth research, this is a fascinating tour for those who appreciate history and insight into the darker side of city life.

For crime-buffs, The Original London Horror Tour company offers the Sherlock Holmes tour, which delves deep into the world of the famous character of Sherlock Holmes, taking visitors to see Holmes’ address at 221B Baker Street, Doctor Watson’s house and other sites of the famous crime thrillers. The tour finishes with fish ‘n’ chips, to complete the classic London experience!

And for those with nerves of steel, Haunted London offers the excellent Tower of London walk – possibly the most haunted building in England and certainly one of the spookiest! Dating back to 1078, the tower is said to be haunted by Henry VI, murdered at prayer. His wraith haunts the tower on his anniversary, terrifying those unfortunate enough to witness him!

The ‘white lady’ waves to groups of children from the daunting White Tower, with her perfume lingering in the air and the Tower Green memories remembers the executed – including Lady Jane Grey and Anne Boleyn who are said to return.

Perhaps the most unnerving tour section of all however is the trip to the Bloody Tower, where Edward V, aged 12 and his younger brother Richard mysteriously vanished in the grip of a political conspiracy.

Two little skeletons were recovered many years later in the White Tower, believed to be the little princes and their whimpers are still heard today on dark nights in the Bloody Tower.

There are a huge number of ghostly and haunted walking tours within central London and to areas just beyond too – the East End has some great haunted history of its own!

Spooky Castle is a new film project being shot in the New Forest in England revolving around the adventures of a team of supernatural investigators. The filmmakers hope to make Spooky Castle, which is based on the computer game of the same name (inset), by Hamumu.com into a series. So far far a trailer and an initial short episode called The Black Crow of Narth have been completed.

Spooky Castle by Hamumu.com

Written by Giles Milner and Rob King the short episode was written as a back story to a full length pilot Giles wrote but felt that without sufficient funding a lengthy film requiring several locations would be compromised by not having a budget. The Black Crow of Narth was made with no budget and the CGI effects were created by David Broomfield, who also shot The Black Crow of Narth using a single camera over just two days.

Both Giles and Rob were members of the local amateur dramatics group, The New Forest Players as children and Giles cast other members of the Players, Tina Archer and Mat Walker along with local martial arts teachers and actors Leo Rand and Graham Moughton with Giles and Rob taking on the final two roles. One of the main aims of the project is to draw from the rich history of the forest and surrounding Hampshire for inspiration for Spooky Castle in addition to the computer game, much of which is set in a forest.

The Black Crow of Narth shows a confrontation between the crow, which was based on a story told to Giles at university by fellow student Oliver Davies. Giles designed the costume around a traditional mummer’s outfit of rags and the zombie’s from the original computer game. In a dark forest Guy, Pete and Bouapha confront the crow with tragic consequences setting the scene for a series Giles and Rob are currently writing.

Giles said: “I’m very pleased with what we’ve managed to achieve with such a small team and no budget. We’re now looking for funding to make a full length pilot episode to present to production companies. We want to show off more of the Forest and rural Hampshire with Spooky Castle in the future, we have an amazing area steeped in folklore and myth that is perfect for more stories that work well with the ideas and adventures from the game.”

Last October, I wrote an article called ‘Most Haunted Axed By Living TV‘ that spoke about the show being taken off air. But recently, Living TV released the rights of the popular ghost hunting show, Most Haunted, back to Karl Beattie and Antix Productions. As a result, this may be the lifeline the show needs to stage a comeback onto our TV screens.

The statement from Living TV said: “We have decided not to recommission Most Haunted and will be giving Antix Productions the right to take it to another channel if they wish”. As to which channel Antix Productions will pitch Most Haunted to is anyone’s guess, but for me, ITV seems like the logical choice, as Yvette Fielding has already had her ‘Ghost Hunting With….’ series aired on the station. I guess only time will tell what station will take up the challenge of being the new home of Most Haunted. Whatever the station, one thing is for sure, it will be a ratings smash.

Most Haunted Will Be Bigger & Better Than Ever

Karl Beattie and Yvette Fielding

On the 12th August 2011, Karl Beattie posted on Facebook: “Hi Guys Just wanted to give you the official news. SkyLiving has decided not to re-commission MH which is sad news, however, we have been given our rights back, so we can go to other broadcasters with it. I think that a new home and better investigation techniques will move MH into the next phase making it bigger and better than ever. We are very excited about MH’s future, so onwards and upwards my paranormal friends. xx”

Some of you may know that I have not always been a big fan of Most Haunted, and this may come as a surprise, but I for one hope that Most Haunted makes a return to our TV screens. Madness I know, but I live in hope that Karl keeps to his word and does make changes to the format. Personally I would like to see a more logical approach to their ghost investigations based upon sound scientific theories. Again, only time will tell.

Alright maybe ‘wrong’ is not the correct way to discuss the car battery experiment, but it’s not exactly what I would define as a valid experiment. For those of you who have not heard of the car battery experiment, it is a simple test that involves periodically measuring the voltage of a battery over the course of the experiment, monitoring the amount of charge lost and comparing it against a base discharge measurement. The idea of this experiment is based around the theory that entities utilise various power sources during manifestation to sustain themselves, a theory which seems to explain the anger expressed by various cameramen of popular television shows when there batteries are seemingly drained in a short period of time whilst investigating.

Why I find the experiment so wrong

The difference between the anomaly and battery experiment is that one involves a battery being discharged by a electronic device and the other a lone battery naturally discharging. Now this is not a mere matter of the load (drain) the electronic device has on the battery but rather how it provides a possible means for the transference of energy to something externally. To put it more professionally, a battery is a chemical device capable of storing a direct current (DC) voltage, however wireless transference of energy requires a wave or alternating current voltage (AC) passed though an inductor which creates an electromagnetic field (EMF). This field can interact with conductive substances and induce electrical current. Think of a transformer or a basic transmitter – receiver setup.

My argument is that a lone battery has little means of loosing stored capacity with its environment by means of electrical drain, but rather as a chemical reaction (or rather the rate of reaction by temperature variants) resulting in a decrease of capacity.

A new experiment

This is still a valid theory to experiment with, but to gather more accurate data a new device is required. Essentially this is done with a simple inverter circuit which converts the dc voltages of the battery to an ac voltage fed into a small inductor to provide an electromagnetic field. What this provides is a base drain on the battery, and by monitoring the drain (using an ammeter or multimeter) during the experiment and comparing it with the base drain one could recognise an increase or decrease of discharge.

There are a lot of other ways to implement this experiment without building a circuit, for example an of-the-self inverter (such used for caravans, camping, etc) with a 40 Watt lightbulb attached. My personal favorite is the use of ‘el-wire’ (electroluminescent wire), its more commonly used as a lighting mod in the computer world, and a basic kit includes a small 12v inverter. (pic inset).

Happy Hunting!

The interest for Spiritualism in the 1920s had declined, it did however have a large impact on the serious exploration of paranormal claims. Magicians of the day had been thrust into the new role of checking / debunking paranormal claims due to their extensive knowledge of deception and sleight of hand. This role still continues today with famous personalities like James Randy, Derren Brown as well as Penn & Teller , to name just a few.

However, many physicists and psychologists that are not trained in sleight of hand and deception, still manage to be duped by modern day mediums and psychics.

Magicians & Claims Of The Paranormal

Joseph Dunninger

The role of the magicians looking into claims of the paranormal can be dated back to Joseph Dunninger (1892 – 1975) and Harry Houdini (1874 – 1926). Dunninger was a mentalist (no that’s not someone who is mental lol) who pretended to read his audience’s minds, see into the future and alter matter through thought. Today we would call these abilities extrasensory perceptions (or ESP for short) and psychokinesis. He would often stated that his psychic feats were nothing but but simple tricks and he actively exposed paranormal fraud .

The Harry Houdini Connection

On the other hand, Harry Houdini, who’s real name is Enrich Weiss, was the worlds best known escape artist. Houdini began his career with an astounding European performance as “The Handcuff King”. In the UK and all over Europe, Houdini set down the challenge to police to lock him up in jail or in handcuffs, from which he would obviously escape. A move to the United States saw the rise of his career along with increasingly more dangerous acts of escapism. He achieved these amazing escapes through trickery, flexibility and sheer brute strength.

Harry Houdini

Later in life, Houdini dedicated himself to exposing spiritualist fraud. He would often disguise himself, follow well-known mediums and then expose their fraudulence and trickery in dramatic fashion. He was fueled by disgust after a séance that he attended due to the desperation to contact his dead mother. The wife of Conan Doyle (author of the Sherlock Holmes novels) arranged the séance with a medium that both Conan Doyle and his wife were both positive that the medium was the real deal. The Doyle’s were convinced the contact was a success, however, Houdini was appalled by the obvious fraud and trickery. Harry Houdini broke off the friendship with Conan Doyle and his wife shortly after the séance, however, Doyle was sure that Houdini himself even possessed paranormal powers. Houdini denied this.

Modern Mediums, Psychics & Cold Reading

Every generation seems to generate their own crop of psychics & mediums. Today we have people such as James Van Praagh, Uri Geller & Derek Acorah. Every one of these people has either been publicly challenged or has been caught out, often by magicians, practicing such trickery as cold reading.

A quick search on YouTube for “Cold Reading” will produce hundreds of videos of either mediums cold reading and clips on how to spot cold reading. Here is a light hearted video on how to spot cold reading:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OlGBXCpGgns

In this next video we see James Van Praagh failing badly at an attempted cold reading session. Here he asks a number of probing questions and makes many bland broad statements that could just about fit everybody, but on this attempt it goes ever slightly wrong.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t07UzTcApMI

Next up is a show from BBC 3 called “Bullsh!t detectors”. In this show we are treated to the presenter making up fictitious names and a fake history and inviting three mediums to come and and investigate “The Chocolate Factory”. All the mediums managed to get all the false information that had been planted on the Chocolate Factories website. Surprise surprise, all three mediums ‘pick up’ on the fake names and history, but the best bit is when the mediums are told the truth. Pretty much all the mediums made up lame excuses to try to lie their way out of it. Anyway, take a look:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4qGfNViVN8

Are All Mediums Fake?

Although I have spent the most part of this article discussing the frauds and fakers in the world of the medium, I still have an open mind when it comes to communication with the dead, but not so open that my brains fall out!
In the past, I have had the pleasure to work with one medium (who will remain nameless at her request) in particular who was absolutely accurate with all the information that she relayed. I personally know that there was definitely no chance of her researching the location prior to the investigation because I was the only one in our team who was in contact with her, and to boot, I only knew that the investigation would be in the East of England. No other details were known to any other team member about the location to be investigated except for our locations manager at the time who was a stickler for keeping quiet.

So no, in my opinion, not all mediums are fraudulent. However, most, in my experience are. Whether these mediums are deliberately faking it or they genuinely believe that they have ‘the gift’, I cannot say. I suspect it’s pretty much evenly split between the two.

Given the title of the most haunted city in the world by the Ghost Research Foundation International, York has a spooky past that can be discovered by going on one of the many ghost tours available in the area.

With entire streets, hotels, pubs, and dungeons all said to be haunted, there are many places you can hope to see or hear some strange activity, so read on and find out where to check out (or to avoid if you don’t want to get scared) in York.

The most haunted house in York is said to be Number 35 Stonegate, a 700 year old house that left the ‘Most Haunted’ crew running out of the house in fear after encountering one of the many spirits that one of the former owners claims inhabit the premises: “Suddenly we couldn’t move for spectral figures,it was like Piccadilly Circus.”

The Séance room on the second floor is said to have the most activity, with Ouija boards set up to try and make contact. 35 Stonegate isn’t the only place that has spirits, and next on the list is the Olde Starre Inn.

Acting as a place to house soldiers injured in the battle of Marston Moor, the Olde Starre Inn’s cellars are said to be haunted by those who passed away from their injuries, with visitors claiming they have heard screams of pain during the night.

Haunted York

The Punch Bowl on Stonegate has two spirits who haunt the building, firstly a former landlord who died in a fire in the house, and the second is of a young girl working on the premises who rejected the advances of a drunk customer, and was strangled by him as a result. Her spirit still passes from room to room, trying to escape from her attacker.

There are many ghost walks in the area, where local guides will escort you to the places with the most activity, such as The Original Ghost walk, which starts at the King’s Arms pub at 8 pm each evening, and often attracts over 100 people. Discover the eerie history of York as you wander the streets, and you may even spot “the lost boy”, a ghost of a boy aged 11 who haunts many of the old Victorian buildings in the city, and has left walkers frozen to the spot with fear before disappearing into the night.

Alternatively, there’s a hour long ‘ghost boat’ cruise down the river, where costumed storytellers give stories about the gruesome past of York, with frightening tales along the way.

Back on dry land, The York Dungeons are designed to scare and entertain, using live actors, props and special effects, with stories about The Plague, Dick Turpin, Guy Fawkes, witches and Vikings. There are various different rooms to add to the occasion, such as the torture chamber, the Judgement of Sinners – an 18th century courtroom, and the Labyrinth of the Lost – a maze of corridors resembling the Roman Fortress of Constantine, where you will encounter ghosts around every corner, making the Dungeons an unforgettable experience for the wrong reasons.

Other ghost walks in the area include The Ghost Hunt of York, starting at the famous medieval street; Shambles. Beginning at exactly 7.30 each evening, the tour guide rings his ‘death bell’ to announce the start of the tour, and uses props, misdirection and showmanship to entertain the crowds. A popular highlight of the tour is when it stops off at Caesar’s restaurant, where the diners (some of which are actors) are unsuspectingly served body parts with their meals, much to the delight to the crowds.

There’s also York’s Premier Ghost Walk, led by the ‘ghost creeper’ complete with Dickensian attire, who uses his wit and knowledge of the area to entertain, educate and scare the ghost investigators on the tour. Starting from outside the Jorvik Viking centre every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night at 7.30, this isn’t one to be missed.

The award winning Ghost Trail of York takes you back in time to share an experience that will leave the hairs on the back of your neck standing up with tales of both traditional and modern day sightings of ghouls. The Ghost Trail starts at 7.30 from the west doors of York Minster.

Other tours such as York’s Ghost Walk Experience and Ghost Story are also worth checking out, with bespoke tours available visiting only the places you wish to go.

No matter what time of year you are in York, you’re guaranteed a fright or two during the many different ghost tours available.

The Ostrich Inn is situated in the ancient village of Colnbrook and was once a popular coaching inn for the London to Bath stagecoach route. Aside from the many ghosts reported at the Ostrich Inn, it is also claimed to be the third oldest inn, this is based on documents and records that date back to 1165, and is the first pub in England to be featured in the novel ‘Thomas Of Reading‘, written by the late 16th century author Thomas Deloney, which features former landlord Jarman and his murderous ways.

The Ostrich Inn

Believed to of taken place in the 1300s, the murders that Jarman committed were on weary travelers looking to change their clothes into something more fitting for their appearances before the monarch at Windsor Castle. Many of these travelers carried vast sums of money, something that would seal their fate with the murderous Jarman.

Over time, Jarman devised an elaborate method for killing the unsuspecting travelers by means of plying them with strong drink and offering them his ‘best room’. Once the victim had settled down to bed and once Jarman was sure they were asleep he would remove two bolts in the ceiling below the upstairs bed. This would cause the bed to tilt down at a 45 degree angle and the victim to slide out of the bed and into a vat of boiling fat, killing the victim quickly. Jarman would then take the victims belongings and sell their horse and clothes to unquestioning gypsies. Jarman would then dispose of the victims corpse in the nearby river.

Jarmans fate however, would be sealed after many years when one traveler climbed into bed only to get out again soon after to use the chamber pot only to see the head of the bed tilting down and the boiling vat of fat below. The mans shouts awoke other guests and this was the beginning of the end for Jarman.

Ghosts Of The Ostrich Inn

Thomas Cole, a victims of Jarmans, is said to be one of the ghosts that haunt the Ostrich Inn, however, there is said to be the ghost of a Victorian lady and that of a shadowy figure that has been seen wandering the upstairs corridor. I have been to the Ostrich Inn a few times on ghost hunts and I must say that the room where the tilting bed used to be does have a strange atmosphere about it, as does the dining room next door to it. A few of the team members I was with at the time managed to capture some unexplained sounds on their tape recorder and there were a few orbs caught on camera, however, if you want to learn more about Orbs, be sure to read our article entiteled ‘Ghost Orb Theories – A New Way Of Thinking‘.

Orbs aside, there has been many other ghostly occurrences said to take place at the Ostrich Inn and Mark Bourne, a former manager, has even been quoted as saying “Strange noises, ghostly figures and objects moving by themselves are all in a days work if you re employed at the Ostrich Inn”

Ghost Hunters At The Ostrich Inn

Over the years there has been many ghost hunters to pass over the threshold of the Inn with the goal to capture even the slightest evidence of ghosts at the Ostrich Inn. Again, as with many haunted locations in the UK, Most Haunted has visited the Ostrich Inn and during their investigation the medium, Derek Acorah, claimed to be in contact with many of the ghosts of jarman’s victims. Of course there have also been many other ghost hunting teams to visit the Ostrich Inn over the years. However, during my own visits, I have never captured anything that could remotely be considered as evidence of ghosts.

If you have any comments or if you have witnessed ghosts at the Ostrich Inn, we would love to hear from you. So why not drop us a line by using the form below.

Ghosts Of Jamaica Inn

Situated on the Turnpike road from Bodmin to Launceston, the Ghosts Of Jamaica Inn are well known in the UK and around the world. The oldest parts of Jamaica Inn date back to the 18th century and was originally an over night stopping off point for travelers to rest their weary heads for the evening after traversing the bleak, rugged Bodmin Moor. Jamaica Inn’s name came from the Trelawney family, rich land owners from the local area, two members of which were governors of Jamaica in the 18th century.

Jamaica Inn was not just used as a coaching inn, for it was also known as a notorious haunt for smugglers. Daphne du Maurier’s 1936 novel, Jamaica Inn, made the location famous throughout the world. If you have not read the book, get a copy as it’s a great read.

Ghosts Of Jamaica Inn

Many of the ghost stories of Jamaica Inn are about sounds, such as voices of heated conversations being spoken in some foreign language, ghostly footsteps being heard wandering the corridors in the dead of night, or the sound of horses hooves clattering on the old cobbled courtyard, yet when witnesses are awoken by the noise and look out the window, nothing can be seen.

For me however, Jamaica Inn’s most interesting ghost story has to be that of the man that sits on the wall outside the hostelry and stares into space without responding to anyone who passes him by and then dissolves in front of their eyes leaving no trace behind. The story goes that the man was a traveler who was sitting at the bar drinking his ale when another man peers around the door and calls our to be ghost outside. The next morning the travelers corpse was found out on Bodmin Moor. The identity of the traveler, and that of the murderer, has remained a mystery to this day. However the ghost is still seen on occasion, just sitting on the wall ignoring greetings from passers by.

Most Haunted Investigate The Ghosts Of Jamaica Inn

Back on the 6th of April 2004 the popular TV series, Most Haunted, aired their ghost investigation of Jamaica Inn and were reported as saying Jamaica Inn “is one of the spookiest programs we have ever recorded”. Yvette Fielding and her team, including medium, Derek Acorah, and paranormal investigator, Phil Whyman, made the claim that there were no less than 15 ghosts during their investigation. If you believe the claims made Most Haunted depends on your own personal views about the team and their now axed show. Personally I am somewhat skeptical of their claims, but that’s just my view. If you want to watch some of the Most Haunted Jamaica Inn episode, be sure to take a look at the video clip below.

Investigate The Ghosts Of Jamaica Inn

So, if you are passing by Jamaica Inn, be sure to go in, have a meal and ask the staff about the many ghosts that are said to haunt this wonderful inn, and if you are brave enough, why not stay the night and see if you can hear or see the <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" title="The Ghosts Of Jamaica Inn” href=”http://www.jamaicainn.co.uk/Ghosts/Smugglers_Ghosts.php”>Ghosts Of Jamaica Inn.

Smartphones, such as the IPhone and Android devices that many of us modern ghost hunters has one of these nifty little devices in our pockets, but how many of us has thought about using them as a ghost hunting tool?

Smartphones, many of us modern ghost hunters has one of these nifty little devices in our pockets, but how many of us has thought about using them as a ghost hunting tool?

When i first got myself an android smartphone, about a year ago, I immediately started to think of how it could be put to good use during a ghost investigation. Sadly, I do not possess the brain power to write the necessary code required to create my own ghost hunting app.

However, there are plenty of clever folks out there that know how to write this code and some of them have made some truly fascinating applications for us avid ghost hunters. Below are just a few of the many useful tools out there just waiting for us to download and install. To begin with I will start off with a few Iphone ghost huting apps and then move onto some available for android phones.

Iphone Ghost Hunters Apps

Ghost Radar

Ghost Radar:

Spud Pickles is the mastermind behind the Ghost radar iphone and Android application and it uses various sensors on your phone to ‘detect’ paranormal activity. Ghost Radar measures electromagnetic fields, vibrations, and sounds, but unlike many traditional ghost hunting equipment the Ghost Radar is unique in the fact that it analyses the readings that it obtains from the various phones sensors and only reports when interesting patterns have been detected.

iSeismometer:

iSeismometer by ObjectGraph is an interesting little app that measures vibrations in threee dimentions, X,Y & Z (X is side to side movement, Y is up and down and Z is forwards and backwards). The sensitivity of this app is pretty supprising . Like many tools used by ghost hunters, iSeismometer was not originally designed to be used in quite this way. However, we believe that this app could help build up a detailed picture of the enviroment in which we are investigating.

ITalk Recorder:

ITalk Recorder is a simple recorder for your Iphone that some ghost hunters are using as a means of recording EVP (Electronic voice phenomena) during their investigations. We have not personally tested this app but from the reports i’ve read and the conversations i’ve had with fellow ghost hunters, the ITalk Recorder is apparently a great product.

Ghost Hunter EVP:Ghost Hunter EVP has apparently been designed by Tapfuze to record sounds that go unheard by the human ear. Now I have not used this app myself, but it does have some features, such as exporting your recordings into Itunes, that ghost hunters may find very useful.

Android Ghost Hunters Apps

Entity Sensor:

Entity Sensor by Krugism Development LLC is a simple EMF meter/detector similar to other EMF meters used by most ghost hunting teams. The visual output display is in the form of mock led’s as well as a numeric Micro Tesla readout. How accurate these measurments are is anyones guess, so if your after a basic EMF meter for your ghost hunts, this might be one for you.

Vibrometer:

Vibrometer is a great little vibration meter app that can be used by ghost hunters. Personally I use this android app when I am asking spirits to respond by tapping or banging in reply to my questions whilst on investigations. Vibrometer is sensitive enough to measure even the slightest of taps on a table.

Audalyzer:

Last but by no means least on our ghost hunting app list is one called Audalyzer. Audalyzer is a great little audio analyser app that can tell you how loud the audio source is as well as the frequency at which the audio is on, which is great for when it comes to EVP recording sessions. In my humble opinion, this is the must have ghost hunting app to have on your phone!

Although these apps look the part and some even go ‘bing!’, be aware that not all of these apps should be taken too seriously. Remember, if a product describes itself as a ‘ghost detector’, take it with a pinch of salt, apply some logical thinking to the situation and be skeptical.

Another point to pay attention to is that there are many pirated apps out there and many of these pirated Android apps are not only modified to exclude the License check that is used for Market apps, but have extra code added that steal your contact information, make expensive calls and texts, and log your keystrokes. This is obviously a major security threat. That’s the only reason that these hackers take popular apps and provide them free.

Nothing is truly free.!

Take care,

Some of you may have read my previous post where I made public our intention to release a unique online ghost hunters administration tool that will aid ghost hunters in the everyday running of their team as well as an in depth investigation event logging and reporting tool.

Well work on the system is going at a brisk pace and many aspects of the system has been completed. However, it is still a bit too early to announce a release date at this moment. This is mainly because it is just myself working on the project in my spare time, but bare with me as it will most certainly be worth the wait, so check back soon.

Set in the beautiful village of Boscastle, The Wellington Hotel is a 16th century coaching inn with many ghostly goings on.

Ghosts Of Boscastle

Once the former owner of the Wellington Hotel, Victor Tobutt, was working behind the reception desk when all of a sudden he was witness to the remarkably solid-looking ghost of an 18th century coachman dressed in a fancy shirt, frock coat and boots, with his hair tied back, passed slowly by him.

Victor continued to watch the coachman ghost as it walked through a solid wall. Naturally, Victor was curious to learn if any of his staff members had previously saw the spirit of the coachman.

Upon questioning them many of the staff members confirmed that they had indeed seen the ghost of the coachman. However, some of them also described seeing a cloaked figure emerging from a wall on the upstairs landing and drifting past until it finally disappears thought a closed window.

While nothing is known about the coachman ghost, the ghost upstairs is believed to be that of a girl jilted by her lover who then jumped thought the upper window of the tower that she has been seen to disappear through to her death.

Ghostly Room 9

Ghosts At The Wellington Hotel, Boscastle

If ghosts walking through walls was not enough for the unsuspecting staff and guests, in rooms 9 and 10 the ghost of an old woman has been seen sitting on the beds and walking thought closed doors. As in the case of the coachman ghost downstairs, the identity of the ghost of the old woman is still unknown.

Interestingly, whilst conducting my research into the Wellington Hotel’s ghosts I found a story from a woman on the Tripadvisor website who had a strange experience whilst staying in room 9 that she described as being the “most frightening experience of my life“.

Most Haunted, Mediums & Ghost Hunters

Most Haunted has also visited this haunted inn some years ago where they claimed that they apparently witnessed poltergeist activity as well as spirit lights and orbs. Most Haunted’s spiritualist medium also claimed that the ghosts of Thomas Hardy and his wife also haunt the Wellington Hotel.

So, on the face of it the Wellington Hotel seems to offer ghost hunters a mixed bag of apparent paranormal experiences for us to investigate, and if you are one of the many ghost hunters or guests that have been to the Wellington Hotel and experienced one of its many ghosts, please post your comments below. We would love to hear from you.

Ghosts Of Other Haunted Pubs & Inns
